9th and 9th urban farm featured in Catalyst Magazine
Recently my dear friends and neighbors, Holly and Chap moved away to a new home in the NorthEast. It was a sad day and they are truly missed here in the neighborhood. It was wonderful though to see that they did not leave unnoticed as they were featured in this months issue of the Catalyst Magazine. Holly and Chap were people after my own heart. They were urban farmers and they brought a little... [Read more]
EcoDrain – Make your cold water warm to heat your hot water less.
Quite some time ago I posted about the ReTherm drain water heat recovery system. It is a very cool system that uses the hot water going down your drain to heat the cold water going into your water heater. Doing so reduces the amount of heat needed to heat your hot water. Giving you a theoretical 30% reduction in heating costs. Now a new product has come online called the EcoDrain. I have to say... [Read more]

Salt Lake Newcomers
When times are hard, they’re harder at restaurants. Even in flush times, about half the restaurants that open end up folding. It’s just a tough business. And in a state where you can’t count on the extra bucks that a bar brings in (although we’re all happy about the new club law), it’s even tougher. So I was heartened to hear from Jason Mathis at Downtown Alliance about... [Read more]

Watch the video and then visit eattheview.org
The other day I posted a story on urban condos where I urged you to consider the alternatives, which included suburban farms and gardens. Today I stumbled upon a video very much worth watching over at Groovy Green, thanks to Alltop. The video presents the journey of one man as he converts the lawn in front of his home into a garden and then he presents his call to action for the White House to do... [Read more]

I like to walk, I like to ride my bike, I like to join the gallery strolls, dine at neighborhood restaurants, shop at the neighborhood produce stands and pick up my paper from the corner market. To do all of these things, my family makes our home in the Downtown Salt Lake City Neighborhood of East Liberty/Sugarhouse. When we take time off we enjoy traveling throughout Utah, The United States, Europe and Asia.
Nothing beats working with a neighbor when you are looking for a home in a specific area. They know what the homes are like, what loan packages work best for the area and any special programs that may be available to buyers in the area. So it is always wise to choose a mortgage expert who knows the neighborhood where you are looking.
